The Knap to Sully Island 14/11/10

Getting ready to go about two & a half hours before high water, far too early but I had an itch to scratch...
On the water at last & heading towards the marker buoy at Barry Old Harbour. Much Quieter that yesterday when me & Richie from the Glam Boaters had a wild ride here...
Big boat heading into Barry Dock, I'll be staying out of his way then...
My Destination, Sully Island in the far distance. I'm staying well out from the shore as I'm feeling like a lazy paddle & want to let the main tidal flow give me a push...
 Looking Good (LOL)...
This images gives an idea of how far out from the shore I was as this is at full zoom...
Eerily calm looking towards Flat Holm & Steep Holm. Both of which I've got fab memories of this year...
I was so far from shore that I didn't realise that I missed the west side of Sully Island & instead ended up approaching from the overfall on the East side of the Island. Luckily Poseidon was feeling calm today...
A well earned rest followed by a (ha-hum), 'walk of shame'. Well it was morning...
Looking back across the causeway at the mainland. This is a great play spot when the tides ripping through but it's all serenity today...
Heading back against the flow though it's near enough approaching slack water & on a low Neap tide...
A fellow kayaker doing a spot of fishing...
Approaching Nell's Point, no doubt under the watchfull gaze of the Watchtower. Last time I came through here I think I made them Nervous as the tide was ripping out of Jacksons Bay & over the overfall under the tower...
Back at the marker buoy at Barry Old Harbor & well Knackered...
Final Destination ahead, the thought of tea & biscuits driving me on...
My route, about nine miles al-round & a good morning...
