Taran Tyla
Hi & welcome to my blog, a record of my privileged lifestyle & personal photo album.
I work as a guide & showing people the hidden coastline is my main passion in life. I've been lucky enough to have worked as a guide in Sardinia & Pembrokeshire. I am a 5 star sea leader & level one coach & I love showing people the wonders of the coastline :)
My kayaking passion began as a teenager. Sat on the banks of my local river I would watch in awe as large rafts of polystyrene drift out to see on the ebbing tide hinting at waterborne adventures should I be brave enough to alight these makeshift craft.
The Islands of the Severn were what caught my imagination, so close but beyond reach , the idea & intrigue was instilled in me & would stay with me to one day rise to the surface & become realised.
Years later I lived on the coast in a caravan park on the outskirts of Cardiff, the islands that intrigued me were my daily landscape so I bought a kayak to realise my childhood dream.
I love to paddle anywhere, the adventure that comes with new locations are a passion & favourite locations call me back again & again. New faces & old friends make kayaking very special & a great social experience though solitude is welcome too. The sea is transient like myself, its moods change, its tides ebb & flow revealing the microclimate of the shoreline & the weathering of rocks & familiar locations change day after day.
To be out there at sea is to be alive & in the moment, at one with the natural World, the natural cycles of life. An awareness of the immensity & power of the sea & respect its due. If we can play on the sea, respect Poseidon & return safely then we can consider ourselves to have had a very good day, repeat day after day & consider that a life fulfilled.
Thats my recipe to an awesome life.
Safe paddling.
