Skomer...

This was a work trip for me (for Mayberry Kayaking), I don't normally post work trips but this was a bit special & I had a chance to put my 5 star training to good use as I had to plan several times & speeds for the flows around the Skomer island, an interesting challenge as we were on springs.
We started at Martins Haven & as usual the Swallows were in residence in the toilets there, always a fab site :)
I was paddling with Ruth & her partner (who's name i've forgot), I'm hopeless with names!
We headed out & crossed Jack sound to the North of the island for an anti clockwise circumnavigation.
The Puffins were back.
Lots & lots of Puffins!
A quick break in North Haven. this is the only beach your permitted to land on so the next stop will either be on the water or at Albian Sands by Gateholm Island.

Approaching the Garland Stone.

Guillimots & Razorbills were in abundance too :)

The birds were making this trip for me.
A cheeky toilet break in the Bull Hole.
Then on through the rocks once more. The landscape here is pretty awesome!

On reaching South Haven we paddled due East as advised by my boss Mike & headed straight for Gateholm across the Southerly flow of Jack Sound.
Lots of gaps that could be explored another day.

finally reaching Albian Sands for a well earned break.

Then back on to Martins Haven via some awesome rock formations.

An awesome day out for me & the clients & my first proper leadership challenge with regard to tidal planning. So glad Mike sent me out on this one :)
